Regulated founders build compliance systems before they build pipelines. That is the pattern, and it makes sense up to a point. When you are navigating ISO standards, risk tiers, and audit scope before you have even closed your seed round, the idea of flying to London for a networking event feels like a luxury. It is not. It is the work.
The deals that matter in fintech, especially at seed and series A, rarely close over email. They happen in rooms. Between sessions. At the bar after the panel. The founder who gets the warm intro to the right enterprise compliance lead is usually the one who showed up somewhere physical and made the connection first. We have been too heads-down to do that consistently, and we are calling it out in ourselves before someone else does.
Why In-Person Still Wins in Regulated Markets
Regulated markets run on trust in a way that unregulated ones do not have to. An enterprise buyer in fintech is not just evaluating your product. They are evaluating whether you are the kind of team that will still be around when their regulator comes knocking. That calculus happens faster in person than over any async channel.

For seed to series A companies, the value compounds even further. You are not just building pipeline; you are gathering intelligence. Which frameworks are buyers actually asking about right now? Where are the compliance gaps that nobody has productized yet? What is the enterprise sales motion that teams two years ahead of you wish they had figured out earlier? That information lives with people, not in reports.
We are at the stage where getting into those rooms is worth the time and the flight cost. So we are making it a deliberate part of how we operate.
Where We Want to Be, and What We Are Asking You
We are building out our event calendar for the UK and the Nordics. These are the two markets where we are actively looking to meet fintech founders, early-stage teams in regulated spaces, and the investors and operators around them. Our focus is on events that draw seed to series A companies, teams in the 10 to 20 person range, and founders who are actually navigating compliance rather than just talking about it.

We do not have a fixed list yet, and frankly that is why we are asking. Our audience has more first-hand knowledge of which events are worth the trip than any directory does. If you have been to something in the last year or two that put you in the room with the right people, we want to know about it.
Drop it in the comments. What is the event in the UK or Nordics that you would actually go back to? Which ones draw the regulated founder crowd that is worth the trip?
The Honest Reason We Are Doing This
Part of our thesis at Sinope is that the gates to regulated markets are open now in a way they were not five years ago. AI levels the tooling gap. Compliance infrastructure is becoming accessible to small teams. But you still have to be known. The certification does not sell itself, and neither does the product.

Getting in the room is not a nice-to-have for an early-stage company in a trust-driven market. It is part of the go-to-market. We have been treating it as optional for too long, and this is us deciding to stop doing that.
If you know the room we should be in, tell us where it is.
